I thought that the exposed quarter panel fasteners looked cheap. Apparently I am not a car enthusiast, and idiot, etc.

You should probably sell your car or get off this site.

Little yellow caps would go a long way. Maybe they are dipping their toes in the exposed rivets=racecar thing.

You're clearly spoiled by Camry ownership.
That is extremely hard to write without sounding sarcastic.

Yeah, you didn't pull it off.
We do appreciate that effort though.

Look, the way te guy reacted is OTT, no question. However, even though fasteners left exposed feel cheap, if you look at how they made it flush with the panel, and how the panel itself joins the one under it, it would seem to me this is deliberate, so to say: it's not a bug, it's a feature.
I have yet to look at the car in person - and can only hope i will get the chance anyhow - but from this picture i don't think it looks cheap at all. A bit blue-collar, yes, but that's expected with a Corvette, no?

You are not wrong. They do add a level of "cheap" to the feel... but in that case I think it's on purpose. Based on the finish work, they went to great lengths to get everything flush and still use those ugly little fasteners. In racing they make sense... they give you a fast way to remove a damaged panel and replace it. Driving on the street, they look like you were too cheap to actually go to a body shop.
Don't worry, zyodel has told me the same thing... he likes to say that to anyone who disagrees about the quality of a car he likes (even if he hasn't driven it). There are a whole group of people who will declare if you don't like the C7 you aren't a car guy, just like there was a huge group that said the same thing about the C6 before it.

Looks kinda cheap, but it's so much nicer having fasteners that you can easily get to. It sucks to have to tear apart a bunch of unrelated stuff to get to a fastener for something that's right in front of you.

I saw that, and completely insane reactions you got lol. That's FP though.
To be honest I had never noticed those exposed fasteners. Haven't made up my decision on what I think of them since you pointed it out.

The FP has been a source of hilarity lately. I think its all the Paul Walker stories... I mean, the comments on them. Whoo, that sounded bad.

I honestly appreciate whenever I am able to see and access screws and bolts in case something is in need of repair (even though the screws/bolts pictured will not normally need to be unfastened for an reason I can think of) or even if I get a little curious, rather than them being all covered up or hidden.
To me, this screams that somebody looked down the road a bit. Now that I think of it, it seems like that quarter panel is probably replaceable which I feel is a great feature since I would have to say that getting sideways in one of these is quite irresistible and slamming into a pole is inevitable for many drivers, and because the quarter panel is able to be replaced, it's a quick fix compared to how the quarter panels of basically every other car out there is all apart of the rest of the car's body.
I really hate how cars nowadays are all pop and snap for the sake of not using screws and bolts, which does have its advantages, but I still prefer screws and bolts. In this case, I don't think that replacing those bolts with clips are a good idea and covering them with some plastic is going to solve much either.
That's just my two cents though.

Given that the only time they are exposed is when the door is open, I fall into the "don't show, don't care" group.

Yeah it's ridiculous. People really love to pick each other apart, and honestly I wish jalop was mutually seen as one of those places that didn't have any of that.
Then I end up getting stuck trying to defend people from trolls, for shame... Getting stuck in the troll's trap.

I've praised the hell out of this car. left and right, up and down, inside and out.
damnit damnit damnit I will never unsee those tactless bolts in the door jam now.
cannot unsee.
you are 100% correct on this one.

That's the thing I don't get. How many C7 owners are going to appreciate the ability to swap the quarter panel skin out easier/faster?
All those comments about "easy to replace after a track day".... WTF? Do high end sports car owners PLAN to damage their cars and have extra quarter panels and fenders hanging in the rafters of the garage back home??

Oh and I called out a typo in the morning shift and had 4 people come back at me with how close T is to the % on the keyboard.
That doesn't mean that I'm an ass for pointing it out, and it also doesn't make it ok to have typos.

It wouldn't bug me either, if I was the demographic for this car. My only issue is, Chevy wanted the C7 to be a world beater, a car that would appeal to other markets than blue hairs and autocrossers.
This looks like something just begging to be laughed at by non-American car journalists.

Compared to similar cars the Corvette is; cheap to buy, cheap to repair, reliable and relatively boring.

I don't agree on that last bit after being in a couple c6 cars and a ZR1, but thats the beauty of cars we don't have to agree.
